Project Brief
In 2017, IE Studios was approached by the Director of Marketing at 11Alive to do a photo shoot for the premier of Tegna’s new talk show “Sister Circle”. We knew nothing about the show, but we knew our principal photographer (Charles Georgi) could make their promotional photographs look amazing. We were also very excited about the opportunity to work with an established Tegna company like 11Alive!
After corresponding with the 11Alive team about exactly what they were looking for, we brought our own white backdrop screen to the 11Alive studios in Atlanta to set up.
Quad Webb-Lunceford, Kiana Dancie, Syleena Johnson, and Rashad Ali—-the co-hosts for this awesome new show “Sister Circle Live.” All four of these amazing beautiful women were just fun to watch as they genuinely enjoyed each other’s company, smiling and laughing at each other’s jokes. You could tell, right away, that the chemistry was real between them.
We started by shooting all four of them together:
After seeing them interact so well together, it was just a matter of capturing each of their individual personalities in portraits. Charles Georgi (photographer) saw the women were having so much fun already, so he just went with it. Honestly, this wasn’t hard with such a beautiful cast.
After, the photographs were taken, IE Studios was asked to record B-roll footage for some interviews with each cast member, which is how we shot most of the images in our “Behind The Scenes” video. The shoot was a complete success, and we couldn’t thank Sister Circle Live enough for such an awesome opportunity. We’d love to work with them again!

Skills Needed for success on this project
The IE Studios photographer is ready to capture critical studio photography like this because we’re experienced with lighting and controlled environments. Post production photography editing also plays a key role in the delivery of photographs of this caliber for our clients.
Initial Concept Planning
Began only a few days before our shoot on July 20, 2017 actually. We didn’t know much about the show because we were asked to come and shoot on very short notice. The photographs came out really nice, though, because we had a plan for each shot before we set foot in the 11alive studio.
Shoot
All shooting was done on July 20, 2017.
Photography began in the makeup room where IE Studios was asked to shoot candid photos of the women getting their makeup done.
After that, we set up in the 11alive news studio with our white backdrop and lights. We shot still photographs first, then B-roll video footage of the interviews with each cast member.
Post Production and Final Delivery
Photo and Video Editing, Motion Graphics creation, Coloring, Sound Effects, and export revisions took only about a day and a half. Tegna and the entire cast of Sister Circle Live was more than pleased with what we captured, and the project was a complete success.
Imagine
The most interesting aspect of any good photograph is its story. How did you come to be now from where you came from? What challenges and struggles did you need to overcome on your way to here and now? How did you overcome those challenges, and what did they teach you? What’s your story?
Something Different
A great image captured in a still photograph should move the beholder with some kind of emotion. It should portray people as real and authentic….the way they actually are in real life. It should inspire ideas and actions and thought. From the time of conception to final delivery, enjoy the creative journey.
