We found a stunning location onsite that was high enough to see the entire MC ReadyMix plant behind our subject from the A camera, and then we could see the actual concrete foundation being poured in real-time from the B camera side angle. Here’s a cool pic of what that side angle looked like when we first arrived to set up before sunrise:

It was up on a grassy hill that overlooked the construction site and the ReadyMix plant.  Perfect location.

After capturing most of the B-roll footage we needed on Day 1, our primary objective turned to the Martin Concrete executives for the VoiceOver content on Day 2.  Cory Lee (VP of Operations) was first up.

Cory Lee (VP of Operations) sat down to talk about a few of the key benefits and technical reasons for the company’s implementation of MC ReadyMix.
You can see that awesome side angle we got of the concrete foundation being poured as we shot this segment.
3-angle Camera set up: FS700, Mark iii / Canon CineLens combo, and 7D from the side angle.

We actually used an impressive camera lineup for such a small budget. Because we shot everything for the video series in two days, we were able to repurpose the FS700 to capture all of the subject videos with a 3-angle camera setup including:

  • Sony FS700 / Oddysey 7q
  • Mark iii / Canon CinePrime 50MM
  • Canon 7D

You’ll also notice a killer Sennheiser shotgun mic pointed up towards Cory in the picture above and below. The quality of video and sound for all of these videos was top-notch.

We wanted to capture both Cory and Jeff Martin (President of Martin Concrete) before the sun came over the trees, so as soon as Cory was finished, we moved Jeff into the exact same place.

I really can’t say enough about how awesome the backdrop for this shoot really was. To change the videos up a bit between Cory’s and Jeff’s segments, I decided to move the FS700 to the other side (the right side) of our A camera. We had a zoom lens on the FS700, so I was able to get some really nice close-in shots while still capturing the MC ReadyMix plant in the background.

Once these content videos were a wrap, we packed everything up and walked down with our cameras to capture some actual footage of this massive warehouse building’s concrete foundation being poured.  You can see a lot of that footage in this short 1-minute video:

MC ReadyMix (Work In Progress)

After we captured everything we needed on the construction site, I wanted to have Jeff Martin and Rick Galloway (Vice President) on camera for some additional content at their new expanded office renovation, which is currently under construction in Kennesaw, GA.

It turned out to be a really nice indoor location helped to achieve the look and feel I envisioned for this video series.

Rick Galloway (VP at Martin Concrete) talked about the Cost Efficiency benefits offered by their new MC ReadyMix plant.

After we finished setting up inside, Rick Galloway (Vice President at Martin Concrete) sat down first to talk about the Cost Efficiency benefits offered by their new MC ReadyMIx plant.

Rick was very relaxed on camera and clearly communicated what he wanted to say.

After rick was finished, we had Jeff sit back down in front of the camera one more time to continue where he left off back at the construction site.

Jeff Martin (President at Martin Concrete) did a fantastic job communicating on camera.

After our final take, we had more than enough VoiceOver and B-roll content to work with.  The shoot was a complete success, and everything was moved to Post Production where we would process, edit, color, and finish 7 new videos highlighting Martin Concrete’s portable MC ReadyMix plant!
